[HUB Workbench] How to Hack Crowdfunding

[HUB Workbench] How to Hack Crowdfunding

HUB |
WHEN: Jan 30th, 5 - 6 pm |
WHERE: 925 Mission St |

Details: About the class: Crowdfunding is the pooling of funds from the people who have passion about your idea. This often includes giving back a reward or “perk”. Crowdfunding is not a new concept (for example, did you know the Statue of Liberty was crowdfunded?), however with the help of new technology, crowdfunding is becoming the go-to way for people to get their ideas off the ground. But how does it work? And how can it work for you?

A tool that harnesses the power of your network (and beyond), setting up a crowdfunding campaign can do a lot more for you than just raise money. It is a great way to address a lot of questions entrepreneurs face when getting off the ground, including:

Gauge demand and mitigate risk.
Test your marketing.
Extra promotion
Data capture
Get to learn a lot by putting your idea out there that you would never have gotten.

You will leave this class with a clearer understanding how you can best use crowdfunding to propel your project.

About Kate Drane,
Engagement Lead, Indiegogo

Kate really believes in the power of we over me. Crowdfunding is a perfect demonstration of this. Last fall she ran a campaign for my small business The Can Van, which really helped her to hone her skills.

Additionally, she is lucky enough to live and breathe crowdfunding everyday in her day job as an Engagement Lead at Indiegogo. Every week she interacts with dozens of entrepreneurs and community leaders to train them how to use this resource more effectively.
