DETAILS: Darren Johnston’s Northern Eclipse is an atmospheric, curious mix of country and open-ended modal jazz. Featuring Johnston on trumpet with David Phillips on pedal-steel guitar and Daniel Fabricant on bass, the moods they create range from melancholia to rollicking swing, as if the soundtrack to a deeply moving film that is yet to be made.
