The 5W’s Project Launch & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The 5W's Project

5MPLACEWORKS |
WHEN: Sept 12, 1:30 pm |
WHERE: Mary and Mission Streets, west of 5th |

DETAILS: Join San Francisco’s District 6 Supervisor, Jane Kim, and the growing Intersection community for this special event!

The 5W’s Project is an urban art installation that provokes thought about the Who, What, Where, Why and When of the our neighborhood. 5Ws will unfold in phases. It will begin with 5 chalkboards in the shape of questions installed on the Chronicle building facing Mary Street. Who, What, When, Where & Why? We are partnering with community based organizations on a series of arts-based workshops to explore the rich histories and important stories carried in the hearts and minds of the people who live, work, and play here. The results will be shared publicly 24 hours/day on the chalkboards installed at Mary Street.

Community partners are invited to adopt a square chalk-board for 5 months. These neighborhood organizations will have a their own space within the 5W project. Currently our partners are: United Playaz, Bindlestiff, Hospitality House, CHALK, and West Bay. This project is a pilot project of a larger initiative called Trailblazing, where underused spaces in the Tenderloin, Mid-market and SoMa neighborhoods come alive with art, ecology and entrepreneurship.  Partners include: Intersection for the Arts, Luggage Store Gallery, and Hyphae Design.
